Анна и Анатолий Смежные - талантливый и плодотворный дуэт известных художников, успешно объединяющих в своем творчестве театр, живопись, шоу и дизайн. Первой театральной работой стало восстановление декораций и костюмов к балетам "Русских сезонов" Сергея Дягилева ("Петрушка", "Шехерезада", "Жар-птица"). С предложением реконструировать легендарную постановку к молодым художникам обратился Андрис Лиепа. Авторский занавес, объединивший три балета в единый спектакль, был исполнен Анатолием и Анной собственноручно. Премьера состоялась в 1993 году на сценах Большого и Мариинского театров. Постановка была успешно перенесена Андрисом Лиепой на сцены Римского, Рижского и Дрезденского оперных театров. Художники награждены Орденами Дягилева "За пользу русской культуре".
       Работая в паре, авторы оформили театральные постановки классического репертуара ("Ромео и Джульетта", "Щелкунчик", "Баядерка", "Вальпургиева ночь", "Сказание о невидимом граде Китеже", "Любовный напиток", "Лебединое озеро", пьесы А.Н.Островского и Н.С.Лескова).
       Тема масок и карнавала нашла свое отражение в эскизах-картинах к спектаклям "Паганини" (Мариинский театр), "Зимняя сказка", "Дитя и волшебство" (Детский музыкальный театр им. Н.Сац.), драматической постановке в стиле рококо "Рамки приличий" с участием Илзе Лиепы (Театр им.Вл.Маяковского), в уникальном проекте, посвященному бау-хаус "Музей Оскара Шлеммера" (Мировая премьера в Новой Опере, Большом театре и Латвийской национальной опере), представление "Волшебник изумрудного города" (цирк Ю.Никулина на цветном бульваре).
       В оформлении художников стали традиционными новогодние шоу в Гостином Дворе и Манеже, организованные Благотворительным Фондом им. М.Лиепы ("Венеция в Москве" 2002г., "Русский бал" 2003г., "Токио в Москве" 2004г., "Карнавал в Рио" 2005г., "Париж в Москве" 2006г., "Пекин-Москва" 2007г., "Москва-Рим" 2008г.). Следующей новогодней темой при поддержке компании Land Rover избран Лондон.
       Ярким событием празднования "Дня города" в 2005 году в Москве стало светопроекционное лазер-шоу на здании Университета на Воробьевых горах. Многократное увеличение картин-эскизов художников стало возможно благодаря команде из Франции под руководительством Даниэля Шарпантье.
       Как главный художник Государственного Кремлевского Дворца, Анатолий являлся автором декораций многих шоу-программ и государственных проектов в крупнейших залах Москвы: концерты Монсерат Кабалье, Пласидо Доминго и Хосе Каррераса, Эма Шаплин и Андреа Бачелли. За участие в оформление празднования 60-летия Победы Анатолий удостоен звания заслуженного деятеля искусств России.
       Анна, лауреат национальной профессиональной премии "SHOWTEX", как художник-сценограф и художник по костюмам одновременно, оформляет спектакли ("Маленький принц", "Половецкие пляски"), концерты и шоу-программы в ГКД и ГЦКЗ "Россия" (шоу Аниты Цой, Варвары, Михаила Турецкого, Надежды Бабкиной), Гостином Дворе, на Красной Площади, дизайн-проекты для LLADRO, CARTIER, London Body School, ЦУМа, ГУМа и Mercury в Москве.
       Для восстановления балетов "Русские сезоны XXI век", "Синий Бог", "Тамар", "Болеро" и "Послеполуденный отдых Фавна", "Видение Розы" Анной были сделаны не только оригинальные коллажи по эскизам Л. Бакста, но и выставочные макеты и стилизованные авторские эскизы. Желая воплотить новаторские образы "Мира искусства", был предложен новый уникальный прием печати живописных эскизов на ткани непосредственно. В декорациях присутствуют как старая школа росписи, так и суперсовременные материалы, технологии, спецэффекты.
       Для выставки посвященной юбилею "Русских сезонов" Анна, используя уникальные рисунки, смешивая компьютерные эффекты и традиционную живопись, подготовила выставку, где каждый коллаж подается, как подписанное художником полотно. Работы экспонировались в рамках десятого юбилейного фестиваля Русского искусства в городе Канн (Франция).
       Проведено более 20 персональных выставок, в том числе в Государственном театральном музее им. А.Бахрушина. Типография "Август Борг" выпустила иллюстрированный альбом художников. Свое творческое кредо художники видят в том, что идеи способны жить и после завершения работы над спектаклями, и каждый эскиз способен выходить за рамки жанра. Работы Анны и Анатолия находятся в коллекции Японии, Австрии, Швеции, Франции, Швейцарии, Германии, Италии, Англии и США.

       Anna and Anatoliy Smegniye are a talented and fruitful duet of famous artists, who managed to unite successfully theatre, painting, show and design in their creative work. Their first theatre work was the renovation of the setting for the ballets "The Russian Seasons" by Sergei Diaghilev ("Petrushka", "Scheherazade", "The Fire-bird"). Andris Liepa suggested the young artists reviving the legendary staging. The author's curtain handmade by Anatoliy and Anna combined the three ballets into the sole performance. The premiere took place on the stages of the Bolshoi and the Mariinsky theatres in 1993. The performance was successfully transferred onto the stages of Rome, Riga and Dresden Semper Opera houses by Andris Liepa. The artists were given a Diaghilev Award for contribution into the Russian culture.
       Working in a duet, the authors designed theatre staging of classical repertoire ("Romeo and Juliet", "The Nutcracker", "La Bayadere", "Walpurgis Night", "The Tale of the Invisible City of Kitezh", "The Elixir of Love", "Swan Lake", plays by A.N. Ostrovsky and N.S. Leskov.
       The theme of masks and carnival was reflected in the sketches to the performance "Paganini" (the Mariinsky theatre) "The Winter's Tale", "The Child and the Spells" (the Children's music theatre named after N.I. Satz) and the drama staging in rococo style "The Limits of Decency" with Ilza Liepa's starring (the Mayakovsky theatre) in a unique project dedicated to the Bauhaus "The Museum of Oscar Schlemmer" (the world premiere was in the Novaya opera, the Bolshoi theatre and the Latvian National Opera), the performance "The Wizard of Oz" (the Old Moscow Circus on Tsvetnoy Boulevard).
       The artists succeeded in decorating New Year shows in the Gostiniy Dvor and Manezh, arranged by the charitable organization named after M. Liepa ("Venice in Moscow" 2002, "The Russian Ball" 2003, "Tokyo in Moscow" 2004, "The Carnival in Rio" 2005, "Paris in Moscow" 2006, "Beijing in Moscow" 2007, "Rome in Moscow" 2008). London was chosen as another New Year theme.
       The light-projecting laser-show on the building of the Moscow State University on Vorobyovy Gory (The Sparrow Hills) became a bright event in celebrating. The Day of the City in Moscow, 2005. The repeated enlargement of the artists' sketches became possible due to the team from France under Daniel Charpantje's leadership.
       Anatoliy Nezniy, as the chief artist of the State Kremlin Palace, was a decor author of many show- programmes and state projects in the largest halls of Moscow: the concerts of Montserrat Caballe, Placido Domingo, Jose Carreras, Nikolay Baskov and Andrea Bocelli. Anatoliy was awarded the title of Honoured Worker of Art of the Russian Federation for the participation in designing the celebration of the 60-th anniversary of the Victory in the Second World War.
       Anna, the winner of the National professional premium "Showtex", as an artist - scenographer and a costume designer at the same time makes the setting of the performances ("The Little Prince", "The Polovetsian Dances"), concerts and show - programmes for pop-stars in the State Kremlim Palace, the "Russia" Concert Hall and in the Gostiniy Dvor, in Red Square, design - projects for LLADRO, CARTIER, the Central Department Store, the State Universal Store, and the company Mercury in Moscow.
       For the revival of the ballets "The Russian Seasons of the 21-th century", "The Blue God", "Thamar", "Bolero", "The Afternoon of a Faun" Anna made not only original collages based on L. Bakst's sketches but also the scale models for the exhibition as well as formalized author's sketches. Wishing to embody the innovative images of "The World of Art", the new unique method of printing picturesque sketches directly on the fabric was offered. Not only the old school of painting but also the most modern materials, technologies and stage effects were presented in the scenery.
       For the photo-exhibition devoted to "The Russian Seasons of the 21-th century" Anna, using unique pictures, mixing computer effects and the traditional painting, arranged the exhibition where each photo was presented as the canvas signed by the artist. More than twenty personal exhibitions including one in the State Cenral Theatre Museum named after A.A. Bakhrushin were held. The printing - house "August Borg" issued an illustrated album of artists. The artists' creative credo is that ideas can live even after finishing the work on performances and each sketch is able to exceed the limits of the genre. The works of Anna and Anatoliy are presented in the collections in Japan, Austria, Sweden, France, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, England and the USA.
